Clairaudience - What is it?

First of all, I have Clairaudience so I am fascinated with learning more about it. I have had this ability my whole life. For me, it's not so much that I hear 'voices' but I hear spirits moving around me, I hear sometimes my name being called, I hear my guides and angels when they have messages for me. The messages themselves come in just a 'knowing', the knowledge or the message is just suddenly present in my mind.
Do any of you experience similar things?

What is Clairauidence?

By: John Culbertson

People in our field believe that there are skills that are beyond of a normal person’s point of reference. One of these skills is Clairaudience.

The French word for “Clear Hearing” is clairaudience. This is the psychic power which relates directly to “hearing” things without the use of the physical ears. It can be divided into two different abilities.

The first of these abilities is clairaudience by telepathy. This is when a psychic “hears” information inside their own mind. To these psychics, it is like a voice is speaking to them similar to how the average person can “hear” their conscience speak to them.

This ability includes hearing other people’s thoughts, hearing angelic beings, and hearing teachers and guides. Despite the fact we say the psychic is “hearing” all of this, it’s really more like an internal voice – thus it’s more closely related to thinking as opposed to hearing.

The other ability is called auditory clairaudience and this is the true form of clairaudience. This is hearing non physical information physically with the
human ears when there is no apparent source the information can come from.

An example of this that most people can relate to is when a person hears someone calling their name, and they turn around with nobody to be found.

The person certainly heard with their physical ears their name, but there is no identifiable source for the name to have come from.

This psychic skill is rare, but when mastered it allows the medium or psychic to get insights verbally from the likes of deceased loved ones, spiritual guides, and so forth.

To develop this psychic power takes both persistence and more importantly patience.

The telepathic form of clairaudience is in fact one of the most basic skills that a beginning student of psychic development will learn and discover. It develops naturally through meditation, telepathy games, and chakra work.

Developing the auditory form of clairaudience requires much time unless it’s a talent which the student is naturally gifted with. The development of this paranormal ability requires awareness and working with musical vibrations. Additionally, a focus on developing the throat center is very important.

As with any psychic skill one is learning there are dangers that may be involved. In the case of clear hearing the dangers are mostly related and linked to the feeling of insanity. It’s quite possible for the student to develop this power without learning to control it in which case it will appear as though many voices are talking at the same time. The psychic development student will have to learn to exert their willpower and command the voices (inner or outer) to quiet down or become clearer. In some cases, the psychic student may have to shut off this ability until their own willpower, self confidence, and self control have been built up.

Seeking Answers

You may wonder why I post various articles instead of writing my own thoughts and ideas. I do this because even though I have been active in the metaphysical community all of my adult life and actually began seeking spiritually as a very young child, I do not know all the answers. I find that sometimes others know much, much more than I do about certain topics, moreover I would rather give the information from the source to avoid misinterpretation.
I certainly have my own opinions and ideas, and as this blog progresses I will be sharing more and more about what I have experienced and what I have learned.
My Spiritual life has always been about Seeking. I find truth in many different places so therefore I don't really call myself any one specific religion. Let's just say I am a mystic and let it go at that.
I hope you find some answers to your own questions here.

Why Meditate? Interesting article

True Meditation

By: Elfspear

There is a lot of interest in forms of ‘meditation’ by people using or espousing the ‘Law of Attraction’ where certain kinds of ‘meditation’ are utilised to help us feel and visualise our desires as a precursor to manifesting them. I myself am a great fan of the Law of Attraction – it is fun, useful and highly rewarding to manifest our heart’s desires. A lot has also been said about the benefits of meditation in bringing us states of calm, confidence, focus, love, etc...

While some or even all these things may be true, I believe using meditation to achieve these personal, ego-based ends is short-selling the practice and yourself, and misses the real 'prize'.

Certainly as you practice meditation, feelings of calm, love, rapture and bliss will arise, and of course all these things are wonderful.

But as you simply sit, being here and now, breathing gently and allowing thoughts and feelings to arise and pass away, you will also become aware of many negative things - painful experiences from your past, fear, anger, jealousy, guilt - all the unwanted stuff you've pushed into the dark recesses of your mind are illuminated in excruciating detail. No-one really wants to experience these things. No-one want to sit and face these things over and over again, with no escape, nowhere to run to and no distractions. Why would anyone freely dedicate themselves to such a practice?

The wonderful thing is that by merely letting these things come up in your awareness without becoming attached to them, simply allowing them to be there without judgement, without grasping them or trying to push them away you find that they will naturally dissipate. For all things that arise naturally pass away (only our habitual thought-patterns keep us locked in to these unpleasant states). It is then that joy and bliss arise, which in themselves are wonderful ‘rewards’ but we must be careful not to become too attached to these feelings either. While there is nothing wrong with enjoying these beautiful states, like all things that arise, they will also pass away, and attachment to them amounts to what Chogyam Trungpa called the 'Golden Chain of spirituality'.

We can become so fixated on being in these states that when change happens (and change does happen – that is the only constant n this Universe!) we become upset, distressed, depressed, confused… and before we know it we’re right back where we began!

The beauty of true meditation is that as we go through these cycles again and again, we start to see the futility of identifying with ANY state, ‘positive’ or ‘negative’. All ‘things’ (objects, feelings, thoughts, sounds, ideas) are seen to be unreal in the sense that they have no enduring form.

So as we continue to practice, we stop identifying with ANYTHING transitory, and ultimately this is seen to include anything we imagine to be 'ourself'. This idea can be terrifying to the ‘ego’, which has spent lifetimes building up layers of illusion to convince everyone that you're a ‘somebody’ but when we pass beyond it, we see with the 'eye of God' - we know directly that for from being a mere ‘someone’ or ‘something’ we are everything, the whole Universe, beyond birth and death, containing but not limited to joy, pain, love, light, suffering and bliss.

And this realisation blows away any such idea as personal gain or ‘personal fulfilment’ whatever that might be!

And so by all means, follow your dreams, have fun creating a beautiful, exciting, prosperous, love-ful life. If this makes you happy and keeps you content, if it works for you, stick with it – it’s a wonderful way to live.

Just bear in the back of your mind, if ever you become tired or dissatisfied or bored with it all, if ever you come to a point where you just can’t shake taht feeling that there’s something more, something you’re missing… there is – your own divinity!

An Interesting Article on the Kabbalah

An Introduction to Modern Kabbalah

By: Kephri Ra

The practice of Kabbalah has been going through something of a renaissance in recent years, and with celebrities such as Madonna talking publicly about its benefits many people have become interested in the subject. At the same time as gaining in popularity modern Kabbalah has also evolved and morphed from its ancient origins so that what I call 'modern Kabbalah' is something quite different from the traditional subject. In this article I will try to give a general outline of, and introduction to, the study and practice of modern Kabbalah.

The origins of Kabbalah lie in early Jewish mysticism, but from those beginnings the study of Kabbalah has grown and branched out, first into a Christian and Islamic Kabbalah, and then further, so that today many people who study and practice this mystical and magickal discipline do so outside of any particular religious affiliations, treating it as an independent spiritual system in itself. The variant spellings of Qabalah and Cabala are often used to denote the non-denominational and Christian versions respectively.

Within Jewish legend there are two distinct stories of the origins of Kabbalah; the first states that it was received by Moses on mount Sinai, but whereas the commandments were for everybody the esoteric teachings of the Kabbalah were passed on to a select few as a secret inner teaching. The second states that these teachings have always been with man, having been given to Adam by an Archangel at the time of his expulsion from the Garden of Eden, out of pity for his plight and a desire to help.

Within Judaism the Torah and other 'exoteric' teachings were often considered to be the body of Jewish teaching, and the Kabbalah, at the height of its practice, was considered to be the soul. In many ways Kabbalistic teachings can be thought of as the distilled essence of spiritual teachings, without the cultural baggage and rigid dogmas that go along with religious teachings. It is because of this that the Kabbalah has been so successful at moving out of the confines of the Jewish faith to provide inspiration, guidance and empowerment to people of all different backgrounds and beliefs. The modern study of Kabbalah has become intimately entwined with the concept of the 'Perennial Philosophy'; the idea that there is a unifying thread of truth behind all of the world’s main religious and spiritual teachings. Kabbalistic principles and teats can be used to understand and draw upon the teachings of a wide range of very different spiritual traditions by stripping away everything but the perfect 'essence' or soul of the teaching.

The esoteric nature of Kabbalah means that rather than being composed of a set of rules, rituals and dogmas, and being essentially social and collective in nature, like exoteric religions, it guides its practitioners on a very personal journey and is composed in a large part of techniques; the path of Kabbalah is that of mysticism and magick, an of philosophy rather than dogma.

The entirety of Kabbalistic wisdom is contained within and expressed by a single diagrammatical representation and system of classification called the Tree of Life; it has 10 spheres, or sephiroth, and 22 paths connecting them. The 10 Spheres can be thought of as describing objective existence whereas the 22 paths describe the subjective experience of being human. This system of classification lends itself well to use as a tool for the objective study of comparative religion and spiritual studies; it also led the infamous occultist Aleister Crowley to describe the Tree of Life as a 'spiritual filling cabinet'.

In addition to being used philosophically as a system of classification the tree of life is also used in meditative and ritual practices. Associated with each sphere and path are the Archangels and choruses of Angels, and other symbolic representation of their nature.

Many of the so called magical practices of Kabbalah can be understood in a modern scientific sense. The perfect example of this is invocation, in which the practitioners invoke the power of some spiritual force within themselves. This is described as a supernatural occurrence, but can be explained entirely as a psychological process harnessing the power of the subconscious mind.

I would wholeheartedly recommend the practice of Kabbalah to anyone.
